Get Out of Your Comfort Zone and Actually Go for It

You say you want to lose weight. You say you want to get stronger. Maybe you’ve been talking about quitting your job and starting that business for years. Maybe you’ve been scrolling through Instagram saving travel videos of Greece or Japan, telling yourself “one day.”

So why hasn’t it happened yet? February & March is coming and your new-year-new-you plan is falling apart. Why?

Because staying comfortable is easier. Because thinking about something feels productive, but it doesn’t actually require you to change. Because making the decision to go for it means facing the unknown, and let’s be real—your brain hates uncertainty.

But guess what? Every single thing you want exists outside of the comfort zone you’re refusing to leave. And if you don’t push yourself out of it, you’re going to wake up a year from now in the exact same place, having the same conversations, making the same excuses.

Comfort Is Killing Your Potential, Girlfriend!

I know it feels like you’re just stuck. Maybe you’re in a rut, your down & out becasue you’re favorite TV character died, or your favorite sports team lost. I hear ya. RIP Stefan Salvatore. SOS Patriots. But you’re not stuck. You’re just comfortable.

Comfort is routine. It’s predictable. It’s your brain’s favorite thing because it means you’re safe. But it also means you’re not growing.

I’ll be honest with you—I know what it feels like to live in that loop.

Maybe you do, too. You wake up, go through the same motions, tell yourself you’ll start fresh on Monday. Maybe you’ve got a gym membership you barely use, but at least having it makes you feel like you’re doing something. Maybe you bought a new planner or journal to “map out” your business idea, but instead of acting on it, you just keep brainstorming. Maybe you’ve Googled “best places to travel solo” fifty times but never actually booked the flight.

You keep the idea alive, but you never act on it. Because acting on it means risking failure. It means walking into the gym and feeling like you don’t belong, or launching your business and worrying that no one will care. It means stepping into the unknown, and the unknown is uncomfortable as hell. &&& I HEAR YA BABYGIRL. It literally took me years to start this blog. So if anyone knows how to live and be happy in her comfort zone, it’s me. BUT since I’ve gotten out of mine time & time & time again I can tell you this…

And you know what’s worse than stepping into the unknown? Regret.

No One Is Coming to Save You

I’m not saying this to be harsh—I’m saying it because I wish someone had drilled it into my head sooner.

No one is going to show up and suddenly make it easy for you to go after the life you want.

Not your friends. Not your partner. Not some motivational video you watched at 2 AM.

You have to be the one to move.

And moving doesn’t mean suddenly becoming a whole new person overnight. It just means you stop waiting for the “perfect time” (which, spoiler: does not exist) and start taking the smallest possible action right now.

Want to lose weight? Start walking 10 minutes a day. You don’t need a perfect meal plan or the best workout routine or the matching workout legging from Gymshark. Just start moving.

Want to get strong? Sign up for a class or follow a beginner’s strength program. You don’t need to be “ready.” You’ll figure it out as you go.

Want to travel? Book the damn flight. Stop overanalyzing. Pick a place, set a date, and go.

Want to start a business? Set up the website, post the content, make the call. No one’s going to discover you if you never put yourself out there.

I promise you—whatever it is you want? It won’t feel comfortable. But you don’t need comfort. You need action.

Embracing Change: Becoming the Next Version of You

If you want a new life, you have to become a new version of yourself. And that doesn’t happen all at once—it happens through small, daily choices.

Every time you make a decision that aligns with the future you want, you are literally becoming her.

• When you choose to meal prep instead of ordering takeout, you’re becoming the version of you that prioritizes her health.

• When you push yourself to go to the gym even when you don’t feel like it, you’re becoming the version of you that is strong and disciplined.

• When you put in extra work toward that side hustle, you’re becoming the version of you that works for herself instead of someone else.

• When you book the ticket, when you take the risk, when you stop letting fear win—you are stepping into the life you keep saying you want.

Change is uncomfortable, but you don’t grow by staying the same. The sooner you stop fighting it and start embracing it, the sooner you’ll become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Using Goal Setting & Visualization to Break Through Your Comfort Zone

One of the most powerful ways to push past fear is to get crystal clear on your vision. If you don’t know who you’re trying to become or what you want, you’re always going to default to what’s comfortable.

That’s why I created my Goal Setting & Visualization Guide—to help you map out your goals, connect with your higher self, and take the first steps toward real change. This isn’t about wishful thinking. It’s about building a real, step-by-step plan to become the woman you’ve always wanted to be.If you’re ready to stop overthinking and start becoming, check it out here:

Your Comfort Zone Will Kill Your Dreams—Unless You Leave It

Think about what you want. Really think about it.

Then ask yourself: Am I actually doing something to get there, or am I just thinking about it?

Because if nothing changes, nothing changes.

That version of you—the one who’s strong, confident, successful, well-traveled, finally living the life she keeps saying she wants? She’s waiting. But she can’t exist unless you’re willing to do the uncomfortable things right now.

So, what’s it going to be? Keep waiting? Or finally go for it?

Actionable Steps to Break Free from Your Comfort Zone

1. Start with One Small Change

Getting out of your comfort zone doesn’t require making huge leaps—small steps are all you need to build momentum. Choose one thing you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t because it feels a little scary. Maybe it’s trying a new journal prompt or committing to go cheese-free in your diet this week. Start with just one change and focus on getting comfortable with that. When you master it, move on to the next thing.

2. Push Yourself to Show Up—Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

Don’t let the “I’m too tired” moments win! There will always be days when you don’t feel like doing the work. But growth happens when you push through those moments. Commit to showing up for yourself, even on the days you don’t feel like it. When you start showing up, you start changing. Even if it’s just prepping a few eggs & fruit to eat for breakfast before leaving & not skipping brekkie altogether like you usually do or skipping your coffee because you’re trying to quit caffeine, you’re breaking the cycle of inaction.

3. Embrace the Discomfort of Trying New Things

There’s no way around it—getting out of your comfort zone requires discomfort. The first time you try something new, whether it’s purchasing that ticket, making a phone call, booking the appointment, a new recipe, or honestly just getting outside of your house some days, it’s going to feel uncomfortable. But that discomfort is a sign of growth. Get used to it. When you feel uncomfortable, it’s because you’re doing something that requires a new level of you. NEW YEAR NEW YOU CAN ACTUALLY HAPPEN. So lean into that discomfort—it’s where the magic happens.

4. Set Micro-Goals That Challenge You

Micro-goals are small, measurable actions that keep you accountable and push you just beyond your comfort zone. Maybe it’s adding an extra set to your workout, or committing to use almond milk instead of syrups in your coffee. These micro-goals add up and help you build confidence with every small win, pushing you further out of your comfort zone each time.

5. Reframe Fear as Excitement

Instead of letting fear freeze you in place, reframe it. Every time you feel fear, remind yourself that it’s simply your body’s way of getting ready for something big. Fear and excitement are both energy sources—choose to use that energy to fuel you instead of stopping you. Fear= False. Evidence. Appearing. Real. ITS NOT REAL. But your dreams can be! FEAR= FACE EVERYTHING & RISE.

6. Visualize Your Future Self

The more you visualize yourself being confident, fit, and successful, the more your mind and actions will align to make it happen. Create a vision board, write down your goals, or take a few minutes each day to imagine your future self. The clearer you are on who you want to become, the easier it will be to take the steps to get there. Check out this free guide on exactly how to visualize your future self here!

7. Make Your Goals Non-Negotiable

The best way to break free from your comfort zone is to make your goals non-negotiable. Tell yourself that your health, fitness, and personal growth are non-negotiable priorities. When you start treating your dreams like they are non-negotiable, you’ll find yourself stepping out of your comfort zone much more easily. It becomes less about “if” and more about “when” you’ll take action.

8. Reflect on What You’ve Achieved So Far

Sometimes, the best way to realize how much progress you’ve made is to look back. Reflect on the times in your life when you’ve stepped outside of your comfort zone before and remind yourself of what you’ve already accomplished. Whether it was starting a new job, overcoming personal struggles, or achieving a fitness milestone, acknowledge that you have the strength and ability to continue pushing boundaries. Your past achievements are proof that you’ve got what it takes to keep going.

By following these actionable steps, you’ll start to see just how much power you have to change your life. It’s all about taking those baby steps, showing up consistently, and embracing the discomfort that comes with growth. The more you get used to pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, the closer you’ll get to the version of you that’s living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
